Spending on a Mosque Money a Usurer Received as Inheritance
Question
A usurer received an inheritance from his parents, and he wishes to set it apart specifically and spend it on the works of the mosque. May his money be spent on the mosque? It should be noted that there is no account of this usurer’s money: how much of it is principal and how much is interest; and he carries on farming with this money.
Answer
If he gives to the mosque the lawful (halal) money that came to him from his parents’ inheritance, then spending it on the mosque is correct according to the Shariʿa.
