Can the Waqif Himself Be the Mutawalli of the Waqf?

Question

Who is entitled to the management (wilaya) of endowed property? And whom is it better to make its manager (wali)? Can the waqif (endower) himself also become the mutawalli (trustee) or not? Please write what the conditions of his eligibility are.

Answer

The waqif himself can also become the mutawalli. Whoever is able to manage the endowed property honestly in accordance with all the conditions of the waqf is eligible.
