What the mutawalli of a mosque should be like

Question: Muhazzab Husain son of Muhammad Hasan wishes to become the mutawalli of a mosque. Muhazzab Husain’s mother was with Muhammad Hasan as his wife without a nikah, and from this Muhazzab Husain was born. The wife Muhazzab Husain has is also without a nikah: she is the wife of Wali Muhammad, she has two children by Wali Muhammad, and Wali Muhammad has not divorced her.

Answer

The person chosen as mutawalli of a mosque should be one who is honest, who can arrange for the mosque to be kept populated with worshippers, and who can keep an accurate account of income and expenditure. In view of the traits mentioned in the question, the said person must by no means be made mutawalli of the mosque.
