Selling waqf land because its income has decreased

Question

Some land of a mosque is endowed. Habitation has grown up around this land, and now its income has become less than before. Now the mutawallis of the mosque want this land to be sold and other land bought, or an exchange made, but the waqif did not stipulate any condition of this kind. Is its sale now correct or not?

Answer

The sale of land that has been duly endowed for the mosque, because of a decrease in income, is not permissible; it will be kept as it is.
