How to call the adhan into a newborn’s ear

Question

When a child is born, some people pronounce the adhan and takbir (iqama) into the child’s ear from some distance, because they feel aversion to being near the child. Will the adhan be performed in the sunna manner or not?

Answer

After the child is born, it should be cleaned and the adhan and iqama pronounced near its ear; one should not feel aversion to it. One should not call into the ear so loudly that the child becomes distressed and cannot bear the sound.
