Sacrificing a wild animal

Question

If a person buys the young of a wild animal — a deer, a nilgai (Indian antelope) and the like — at the price at which the young of a goat and the like are sold, and raises it with great fondness, is its sacrifice permissible on the occasion of Eid al-Adha or not; that is, will the wajib sacrifice be discharged by sacrificing it or not?

Answer

Its sacrifice is not valid; the wajib sacrifice will not be discharged by it.
