Sacrificing the young born of a goat mated with a deer
Question
Is it permissible or not to sacrifice the young that a goat gives birth to after mating with a deer? And will it take the ruling of the goat or of the deer?
Answer
Concerning animals, a rule is recorded in al-Ashbah wa al-Naza’ir: [ar]الولد يتبع الأم[/ar] “The offspring follows the mother”, that is, whatever the ruling of the mother is, the same is the ruling of the offspring. This requires that the sacrifice of a young one whose mother is a goat and whose father is a deer be valid.
