The Accusation That Imam Malik and Imam Abu Hanifa Are Misguided

Question

The questioner states that it was published in the magazine “Nasheman” (“The Nest”), and an article was published in “Tajalli Deoband”, saying that the muftis of Dar al-Ulum Deoband have issued a fatwa that Hazrat Imam Malik and Imam Abu Hanifa are misguided. Is this actually true? Please inform us about this.

Answer

The ulama of Deoband are followers (muqallidun) of Hazrat Imam A‘zam Abu Hanifa ﵀: they teach the books of his madhhab — “Nur al-Idah”, “al-Quduri”, “Kanz [al-Daqa’iq]”, “Sharh al-Wiqaya”, “al-Hidaya” — and act in accordance with these books; the muftis here likewise issue fatwas according to the madhhab of Imam A‘zam Abu Hanifa, explaining every single issue with firm proofs.
