Calling Imam Abu Hanifa a Murji'ite
Question
The followers (muqallidun) of Hazrat Imam Abu Hanifa Nu‘man ibn Thabit ﵀ are Murji’ites. Does one who says or writes such a thing deserve, in the view of the true scholars, to be called a spiritual guide, a wali, a qutb, or a ghawth?
Answer
Quote the complete passage on this, with its reference. If this question concerns [what is said in] “Ghunyat al-Talibin” of Hazrat Sayyid ‘Abd al-Qadir Jilani ﵋, then the explanation of it has been given by Shaykh ‘Abd al-Haqq Muhaddith Dihlawi and Mawlana ‘Abd al-Hayy Lakhnawi — refer to that, and the difficulty will be resolved.
