The Mi‘raj Hadith and the Claim of a “Change of Nature”
Question
Question: it is written in common books that when the honourable Prophet ﷺ went on the Mi‘raj and returned, his blessed bed was still warm, the latch of his blessed chamber was still swinging, and the water for ablution was still flowing. When he ﷺ told the Companions of this, they said, “It is true.” At that moment a Jew was standing there listening to the account; he thought to himself, “This account is false, such a thing cannot happen,” and set off for home.
Answer
I have not come across this account in any hadith or reliable historical book. It is true that similar occurrences are found in Sufi books, in the biographies of certain figures; but an occurrence of a man turning into a woman and then turning back into a man I have not seen even there.
