How the ‘idda is brought to an end
Question
Question: When a woman’s ‘idda ends, women consider it necessary to do the following: (1) At the time the ‘idda ends, women gather. (2) They consider it necessary to take the woman whose ‘idda has ended out through the main door at that moment. (3) At that same time they consider it necessary to put on bangles, a ring and the like; if the woman herself has no bangles or ring, they consider it necessary to borrow them from some woman and put them on, and they think that if these things are not done, the woman does…
Answer
When the days of ‘idda are complete, then according to the Shari‘a the ‘idda has ended; that is, the restrictions that were binding on the woman because of the ‘idda no longer apply. (2) Doing these things for this purpose and considering them necessary has no basis in the Shari‘a and should be abandoned.
