Mourning for a woman divorced by revocable talaq

Question

Question: May a woman divorced by a single revocable (raj‘i) talaq adorn and beautify herself during the ‘idda or not — especially in the case where the husband’s intention in giving one revocable talaq is to separate the woman from his marital ownership, and he does not wish to give three talaqs in one sitting, considering that innovated (bid‘i)? May this woman marry another man after the end of the ‘idda of three menstruations or not — especially if during the ‘idda there was no taking back (ruju‘)

Answer

Abstaining from adornment is not wajib for a woman divorced by revocable talaq, whatever the husband’s intention may be; adorning and beautifying herself before the husband is permissible for her, indeed commendable (mustahsan). Such a woman may marry another man after the ‘idda, provided the first husband did not take her back (raj‘a) during the ‘idda.
