The ruling on saying “talaq, in sha’ Allah”
Question
Relations between Mazhar and his wife became strained, because of which the wife’s parents pressed Mazhar to give talaq, but he was not willing. In the end, being compelled, Mazhar said, “I will give talaq.” Then, some days later, Mazhar, without any intention or wish for talaq, said in the presence of several people: “طلاق انشاء اللہ تعالیٰ طلاق انشاء اللہ تعالیٰ طلاق انشاء اللہ” (“Talaq, in sha’ Allah ta‘ala; talaq, in sha’ Allah ta‘ala; talaq, in sha’ Allah”).
Answer
No talaq occurred by saying this; the nikah between the two remains intact as before.
