Does an Oath Lapse through Apostasy (Irtidad)?

Question

Question: If Zayd, while in the state of Islam, swore an oath with the word kullama, i.e., “Whenever my nikah takes place, then talaq,” and after that Zayd — we seek refuge in Allah from that! — becomes an apostate (murtadd) and then accepts Islam again, will this oath, which he swore in the state of Islam, be restored, or will this oath not be restored? Kindly write fully and with proofs, with hadiths and fiqh.

Answer

Becoming an apostate with the intention that the conditional pronouncement (ta‘liq) be voided is extremely dangerous: it is not known whether, after apostasy, one will be granted respite to accept Islam or not — the appointed time may come before that; and moreover [it is not known] whether love for Islam will then remain or aversion will arise.
