Talaq of a mute man
Question
The parents of a minor girl married her to a mute man. This same girl, after reaching maturity, refuses to go to her husband’s home. The question is: how will a mute man give talaq? If the mute man refuses to give talaq, what should be done? Or if the mute man somehow agrees to give talaq, or his family and the responsible persons somehow persuade him, will a gesture suffice in talaq as well? Or can some other ways of talaq be found?
Answer
Talaq will take effect by gesture as well; if he knows how to write, let him write it.
