Talaq at the command of the parents

Question

Zayd's parents married him, according to their own wish, into the household of a close relative. After some days Zayd's parents say: “Divorce her,” yet no moral, social or religious shortcoming is seen in Zayd's wife. Zayd said to his parents: “In my view I see no shortcoming in my wife for which I should pronounce talaq.

Answer

Since the wife has no defect of any kind — religious, moral or social — and she does not trouble her husband's parents, but rather serves them and keeps them pleased, and on the other hand the husband also fears that if he pronounces talaq on his wife it will be a violation of her right, then, in view of these circumstances taken together, he should not pronounce talaq.
