If a Nullifier Occurs in the Middle of Wudu, the Whole Wudu Is Repeated
Question
During wudu a person had, for example, already washed his face and hands, after which wind came out or blood flowed. In such a case, should that person perform wudu anew or complete the wudu without repeating it? One party says: since the wudu has not been completed, the question of its being broken does not even arise; therefore let him complete the wudu without repeating it and pray, and the prayer will be valid.
Answer
If a nullifier of wudu occurs before the wudu is completed, then the parts of wudu he has already performed are also nullified; it is necessary to perform wudu anew. This mas’ala exists as an explicit specific ruling (juz’iyya) in Tahtawi ‘ala Maraqi al-Falah, Shami, al-Ashbah wa-l-Naza’ir and elsewhere.
