Tayammum Instead of Ghusl Because of Cold
Question
Zayd says that a man asked him: “I am very weak, and I went in to my wife. It is the cold season; there is a fear of falling ill from bathing, and the time of the Fajr prayer is short: if I heat water and bathe, the Fajr prayer will become qada’. In such a state, may I perform tayammum and pray, or should I pray it as qada’?”
Answer
When the means of heating water are available, the water should be heated early, beforehand; in such a state he should not perform tayammum.
