The Ruling on a Woman in Hayd and Nifas

Question

What is the ruling on women relieving themselves (urinating and defecating) in a posture like that of ruku' (bowing); on a woman in hayd keeping away from the bed while in the state of impurity and not cooking food; on holding, out of the notion of defilement by touch, that whoever touches her must also perform ghusl; on declaring it necessary to wash [her] clothes, vessels and the like while she is in the state of impurity, and calling [their use] without washing a great sin?

Answer

Relieving oneself in a posture like that of ruku' is the way of animals other than man, not the way of man. To guard against a woman in hayd and nifas to such an extent, to shun the food she has cooked and the clothes, vessels and the like that she has touched, and to keep her bed separate — this is the practice of the Jews; Islam has forbidden it.
