The Ruling on Used Water

Question

(1) Is the used water of wudu that falls into the drain pure or impure? If, while making wudu, a cap falls into the drain in haste and a person puts it on without washing it and prays, is his prayer valid or not? (2) Likewise, no impurity is visible in a bathroom; a person put his clothes on the wall, they fell into the bathroom because of the wind, and he prayed without washing them — will his prayer be valid or not?

Answer

(1) Used water is pure according to the position on which fatwa is given. If there was no impurity in the wudu drain, the prayer does not become invalid (fasid) by praying while wearing such a cap. (2) The ruling on those clothes is the same; however, it is more cautious (ahwat) to wash such a cap and such clothes.
