Fulfilling the Sunna of I'tikaf Through the Imam

Question

If a man from one neighbourhood is the imam of another neighbourhood, is this imam to be counted according to the Shari'a among the people of the neighbourhood where he leads the prayer, or not? And will the sunna i'tikaf be discharged on behalf of the people of that neighbourhood if he performs i'tikaf in the mosque where he is imam?

Answer

With respect to i'tikaf, this imam will be counted as belonging to the neighbourhood whose mosque he is the imam of.
