Smelling incense sticks and perfume while fasting

Question

If a fasting person — whether in Ramadan or outside Ramadan — in the state of fasting smells the smoke of incense sticks or of frankincense, or scent, is the fast broken or not?

Answer

The fast is not broken by smelling scent or any other perfume; but the fast is broken by deliberately bringing the smoke of incense sticks or frankincense inside by way of the throat.
