The time of Isha in England
Question
Here in England the night is currently six hours long. According to most fatwas the Isha prayer is performed after [the setting of] the red twilight (shafaq ahmar): some perform the Isha prayer after an hour, [some] after an hour and a half, some after an hour and a quarter. But now some people perform the Isha prayer 36 minutes or 43 minutes after sunset. Is the Isha prayer valid?
Answer
The time of the Isha prayer also sets in with the disappearance of the red twilight (shafaq ahmar). And with the disappearance of the white twilight (shafaq abyad) — however many minutes later it disappears — the time of Isha begins by unanimous agreement.
