The time of Maghrib equals that of Fajr
Question
In the permanent timetable — prepared by Sayyid Tahir Husayn and certified by the respected Mawlawi Mufti Kifayatullah, Mawlawi Hajji Karamatullah and Mufti Nuruddin — it is written that the time of Maghrib is likewise equal to the time of Fajr, that is, one hour and twenty minutes. But a certain gentleman says that the time of Maghrib ends when the stars begin to shine and is only half an hour. Which view is correct?
Answer
The time of Fajr and the time of Maghrib are approximately equal. According to the view on which fatwa is given (mufta bihi), [the time of Maghrib] does not end merely when the stars begin to shine.
