If the Worshippers Are Displeased with the Sunna Way
Question
If the imam or overseer, etc., of some mosque wishes to perform the tarawih or some other religious act in the sunna way, but the worshippers and the people of the locality become upset, what should the imam, the mutawalli, the administrator of the mosque, etc., do in such a case?
Answer
One should act in the sunna way and not popularize acts contrary to the sunna. Those worshippers who are upset by acting on the sunna should be made to understand with compassion and gentleness that the Prophet ﷺ is displeased by this, which does not befit a Muslim: having displeased him, how will they be able to ask for intercession (shafa‘a)
