Raising the Hands High in Du‘a’
Question
Is it permissible, at the time of du‘a’, to supplicate with one’s face turned towards the sky and one’s hands raised above the shoulders?
Answer
Du‘a’ is made in this way after the istisqa’ prayer (prayer for rain); this is called ibtihal. At other times this manner is not a sunna.
