A Gap Between the Hands During Du‘a’
Question
Should du‘a’, after the prayer and outside the prayer, be made with both hands joined together, or should there be some gap between the two hands?
Answer
Keeping some gap is better: [ar]وَالْأَفْضَلُ فِي الدُّعَاءِ أَنْ يَبْسُطَ كَفَّيْهِ وَيَكُونَ بَيْنَهُمَا فُرْجَةٌ وَإِنْ قَلَّتْ[/ar] “What is best in du‘a’ is to spread out one’s palms with a gap between them, even if slight” (“‘Alamgiri”, vol. 5, p. 318).
