The Du‘a After the Salawat in Prayer
Question
Which du‘a did the Messenger of Allah ﷺ recite in prayer in place of the “al-tahiyyat”? Prove it from hadith. And which du‘a did he recite in the sitting (qa‘da) in place of the Ibrahimi salawat — or did he recite [the] salawat? Prove it from hadith. And write what he recited in the fard prayer.
Answer
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ, in prayer, used to recite the “al-tahiyyat” in the sitting (qa‘da) after every two rak‘as; and when the salam was to be given, he would recite the Ibrahimi salawat after the “al-tahiyyat”, and after the salawat he would also recite a du‘a.
