After sajda al-sahw the salawat should also be recited

Question

Sajda al-sahw is performed in the last rak‘a. Should one give the salam in it after the tashahhud alone, or should the salawat also be recited in addition to it? What is better (afdal)?

Answer

Recite the salawat and a supplication as well, and only then give the salam that concludes the prayer. As for the salam that comes before sajda al-sahw, give it after reciting only the tashahhud.
