Sat Down After the First Rak'a and Immediately Stood Up
Question
A person, after performing both prostrations of the first rak'a, sat down for a short while to recite the “al-tahiyyat” — he had not yet recited anything when he remembered and immediately stood up for the second rak'a. Was sajda al-sahw needed or not? And if he sat for as long as it takes to say “Subhan Allah” three times — was it needed then or not?
Answer
If he sat for the length of time it takes to say “Subhan Allah” three times, sajda al-sahw is wajib; for less than that the prostration is not wajib.
