An Image on the Prayer Mat

Question

(1) Is it permissible to depict flowers, leaves and the moon on the inner walls of a mosque or not? (2) A prayer mat has flowers, leaves or the moon depicted on it, on the part where the forehead is placed. What is the ruling on this?

Answer

(1–2) An image of flowers, leaves, the moon and the like on a wall, ceiling, prayer mat, etc., is permissible, [provided] there is no suspicion that the moon is being worshipped. It is better that the prayer mat have no image at all and be completely plain.
