Praying in a mosque with mirrored decoration
Question
A mosque in Saharanpur is situated next to the police post. Inside the mosque, in the part under the dome, on the western, southern and northern walls, glass floral patterns have been made in which one’s face and reflection can be seen, so that it has become like a palace of mirrors. In this situation, may the prayer be performed inside the mosque or not?
Answer
The prayer in such a mosque is permissible. The worshipper should keep his gaze lowered so that he attains humility (khushu‘) and his attention does not become distracted; otherwise, if he turns his attention to it and humility is lost, the prayer will be makruh.
