Giving Salam Before the Imam

Question

A muqtadi who is a mudrik gave salam before the imam’s salam, whether by mistake or deliberately. Will this person’s prayer be [valid] or not?

Answer

If he gave salam before the imam by mistake and then remembered, he should remain [in the prayer] and, following the imam, give salam again, provided that he has not done any other word or act contrary to the prayer; otherwise repeating (i‘ada) the prayer will be binding on him. If he deliberately gave salam before the imam and left the prayer, he should pray again.
