Question
What is [the ruling on] reciting Surah al-Fatiha behind the imam? Answer
The madhhab of Imam Abu Hanifa ﵀, as transmitted in the core texts (mutun) of fiqh, is that the muqtadi should remain silent behind the imam, whether the prayer is audible (jahri) or silent (sirri) — reciting neither Surah al-Fatiha nor anything else.
