Recitation Behind the Imam

Question

Should Surah al-Fatiha be recited behind the imam or not? Some Hanafis recite Surah al-Fatiha behind the imam in the silent (sirri) prayers but not in the audible (jahri) ones. What is [the status of] this practice?

Answer
