How loudly one should recite in prayer
Question
Many people say that the muqtadi (follower) in congregation or the one praying alone (munfarid) should pray in such a way that he himself can hear what he has recited. Is this correct or not? Please answer after due consideration.
Answer
Reciting the fard recitation in prayer loudly enough to hear one’s own voice is necessary according to many jurists, and this is the precautionary course. If some muqtadi standing close by also hears the voice of the imam’s tasbih in ruku‘ and sajda, no defect has thereby entered his prayer.
