A prayer repeated for omitting a wajib: is adding a sura wajib in the last rak‘as?

Question

The zuhr, or ‘asr, or maghrib, or ‘isha’ prayer was performed in congregation. The imam, out of forgetfulness, did not perform the first sitting (qa‘da), and no one prompted him either. After the third or fourth rak‘a the final sitting was performed and the prayer was concluded, and at the end the omission of the first sitting was not made good by sajda al-sahw (the prostration of forgetfulness) either. After the prayer was over, it was established by consensus that the first sitting had indeed not taken place.

Answer

In this repeated prayer, adding a sura after al-Hamd in the rak‘as that come after the two rak‘as is not wajib — neither in congregation nor individually.
