Is the iqtida’ of one who joins in the sitting after sajda al-sahw valid?
Question
Sajda al-sahw became wajib upon the imam. If, after sajda al-sahw and before the salam, a masbuq made his niyya and joined the imam, is his iqtida’ valid? Here some muftis gave a fatwa that the iqtida’ is valid, and some said that the iqtida’ is not valid. What is correct?
Answer
In this situation too the iqtida’ is valid. [ar]والمسبوق يسجد مع إمامه مطلقًا، سواء كان السهو قبل الاقتداء أو بعده[/ar] “The masbuq prostrates with his imam unconditionally, whether the forgetfulness occurred before his iqtida’ or after it” (al-Durr al-Mukhtar).
