The Masbuq Said the Opening Takbir and the Imam Gave the Salam

Question

A masbuq came and made his niyya (intention), entering the prayer; he was still standing and had not yet managed to sit when the imam gave the salam. What should this masbuq do now? Should he complete the prayer with the tahrima he has already made, or make the niyya afresh and pray alone?

Answer

I did not find this issue, though I searched in many places. From the general rule (dabita kulliyya) it appears that he did not take part with the imam in any act of the prayer; he only said the takbir and stood.
