A Hanafi Imam Leading Shi‘is and Qadianis
Question
In a certain village live people of three persuasions: Shi‘is, Qadianis and Ahl al-Sunna wa al-Jama‘a, while the imam holds the Hanafi creed, that is, he belongs to Ahl al-Sunna wa al-Jama‘a. May this imam lead the people of all three persuasions in prayer and take part in their weddings, mournings and other occasions, or not? Please give the answer with proof. Is it permissible for the imam to eat an animal slaughtered by a Qadiani or a Shi‘i, or not?
Answer
The Shi‘is and Qadianis will themselves ask the people of their own persuasion whether their prayer behind a Hanafi imam is valid or not. Why should you worry about them? And when would they ever accept your religious rulings anyway? According to the fatwa of the scholars of Ahl al-Sunna wa al-Jama‘a, those who hold the Qadiani creed are disbelievers (kafir)
