A Hanafi’s Prayer Behind a Non-Muqallid

Question

Is prayer behind the non-muqallids — the Ahl-e Hadith — valid or not? If it is not valid, then on the basis of what principle?

Answer

One who does not call taqlid of the mujtahid imams shirk and does not speak ill of these noble imams (Hazrat Imam Abu Hanifa, Hazrat Imam Malik, Hazrat Imam al-Shafi‘i, Hazrat Imam Ahmad ﵏), and prays while taking the Hanafi school into account in matters of purity and prayer — even if he does not follow (taqlid)
