If the imam’s recitation cannot be understood

Question

If a person’s recitation of the Qur’an cannot be understood by the followers — what the imam is reciting, and whether he is reciting correctly or incorrectly — will such a person also be considered worthy of bearing this great burden or not?

Answer

Either the followers are of little understanding, or the imam is unfit. In the first case the prayer will be performed properly; in the second it will be with karaha, provided nothing that invalidates the prayer occurs.
