Leading tarawih by one whose beard is trimmed short

Question

Is performing the tarawih prayer behind one who has his beard trimmed and keeps it shorter than one fist-length makruh tahrimi or makruh tanzihi? Some people say that prayer behind such a person is not permissible. Also, what is the measure of the beard according to the Sacred Law? Kindly write [the answer] with reference to hadith.

Answer

The sources (usul) of fiqh are four: the Book, the Sunna, consensus (ijma‘) and analogy (qiyas). Whichever of these sources a ruling is established from, and in whatever way it is established — by the explicit wording of the text (‘ibarat al-nass), by its indication (isharat al-nass), by its implied meaning (dalalat al-nass) or by its necessary implication (iqtida’ al-nass)
