Singing, Music, an Indecent Gathering and the Imam Who Forbade It

Question

The people of a certain village, at the time of the ‘Isha’ prayer, set up a gramophone in a house opposite the mosque, gathered the common people — men and women of every kind and every age — and spent the whole night in such shamelessness. The imam of that village forbade [them] in these words: “O shameless ones, brazen and ill-mannered libertines, dayyuths! Are you not ashamed that you gather children and add women to them as well? They will be abducted! You are teaching such shamelessness!

Answer

These vile acts of the people are impermissible and are major sins; in particular, abducting another man’s wife and making her an apostate is kufr. Even if she, God forbid, apostatises and enters the Christian religion, according to the view on which fatwa is given the first marriage will not be annulled; and whoever makes her an apostate or advises it will become a kafir.
