Leading the Prayer with the Kurta Button Undone

Question

Zayd always keeps the top button of his kurta (a long loose shirt) undone, and prayer with a button left open in this way is makruh. When people say to him, “Why do you not fasten your button? Prayer with a button left open in this way is makruh,” he replies that keeping the top button open is sunna: the noble Prophet ﷺ never closed his collar by fastening the loop of the top button of his shirt, and this act is not a cause of karaha (disapproval) in prayer.

Answer

Not fastening the loop of the collar button is established from the Prophet ﷺ.
