Leading the prayer without a turban
Question
The imam of a mosque leads every prayer with a kerchief tied [on his head], while the followers are wearing turbans. What is the ruling on doing this every time?
Answer
Leading the prayer is correct in every form — with a kerchief tied on, with a turban tied on, or wearing a cap — whether the follower has tied a turban, tied a kerchief or put on a cap: none of these forms is impermissible. However, leading the prayer wearing a turban carries greater reward. The same applies to praying oneself.
