Missing the Congregation to Nurse a Sick Person

Question

Is there a concession regarding the congregation for someone who permanently nurses a sick person? If so, what about combining prayers — for example, praying Zuhr and ‘Asr together, and Maghrib and ‘Isha’ together — especially in a hospital and the like, where the necessary means are not easily available?

Answer

If it is necessary to stay with the sick person and there is no one else to nurse him, then there is latitude to miss the congregation. It is also permitted to pray Zuhr at the end of its time and ‘Asr at the beginning of its time; Maghrib at the end of its time and ‘Isha’ at the beginning of its time.
