Praying at Home Because of the Imam’s Faults

Question

A certain man sees that money belonging to people who consume usury (riba) has been spent on the mosque building, and that much money from donations and the like has also been spent on it. Secondly, this man looks at the inner state of the imam and finds it to be bad, so that his nature feels aversion towards him. Because of these excuses, may he pray at home, or is it necessary for him to go to the mosque and pray in congregation? The situation of the surrounding mosques is the same.

Answer

Since he is unable to go to another mosque, and most of the money in this mosque is from donations (which is apparently permissible), in such a situation he should pray in the mosque and not at home: for great emphasis has been placed on the congregation, the one who abandons the congregation (that is, one who is habitually in the practice of abandoning it)
