Increasing the tasbihs so that worshippers can join the congregation
Question
In the prayer the imam recites the tasbihs of ruku‘ and sujud seven times each so that a greater number of followers may join. Will the prayer of the imam and the followers be broken by this or not, or will some other kind of deficiency arise? And sometimes the imam, through forgetfulness, recites the tasbihs more than seven times — will invalidity (fasad) follow? Explain and be rewarded.
Answer
If the followers who have already joined the prayer with the imam find it burdensome, then one should suffice with the first measure of the tasbih of ruku‘ and sajda (three times), [rather than lengthening it] with the aim that more people may join. He should not recite the tasbih of ruku‘ and sajda seven times.
