A woman praying in an open place
Question
If a woman is a traveller (musafir), she shortens the prayer (qasr). But if she has gone somewhere on an outing where qasr does not apply to her, and the time of prayer has come, may she pray in an open place?
Answer
On a journey in the Shari‘a sense (safar) she shortens the prayer in any case. And if she has gone on an outing and prays in an open place, it is also correct for her to pray thus. Her prayer is valid if she covers her whole body so that only the hands, the feet and the face remain uncovered. If she wears socks on her feet and gloves on her hands, the prayer is also valid.
